Marie is a licensed school psychologist who works as an independent contractor in the public schools with Talk, L.C, and evaluates students privately through her company Assessment & Intervention Services of Richmond, LLC. Marie received her undergraduate degree in psychology from James Madison University, and her graduate degrees in school psychology from Towson University and the College of William and Mary. She previously worked as a psychologist for Caroline County and Henrico County Public Schools, and as an admissions examiner for St. Christopher’s School. Marie trained as a tutor of language fundamentals by a certified Orton Gillingham instructor and tutored individual students with dyslexia from 2011-2017. She provided small group tutoring for third grade students at Collegiate School in Richmond during the 2013-14 school year.

Marie joined her background in assessment as a school psychologist with her experience as a tutor in language fundamentals to become a nationally certified educational diagnostician or NCED in 2015. She became licensed to practice privately as a school psychologist in August of 2021. Marie specializes in the diagnosis of dyslexia and other learning disabilities. Personal attention during the evaluation process is a priority for Marie. She does not use psychometrists to administer tests or administrative assistants to score or write background sections of her reports. Her evaluations are created for the specific referral question and completed entirely by Marie. Her reports are never computer generated.

Since Marie has experience working in both the public and private school settings, she is knowledgeable about how these systems operate. She can guide parents in productive ways to help their child succeed in his or her school setting. Parents are welcome to bring previously completed evaluations, Individualized Education Plans (IEP), report cards, standardized testing scores, etc. for a consultation meeting. Several private schools require a cognitive assessment as part of the admissions process. Marie has experience administering the Wechsler Scales (currently the WISC-V and WPPSI-IV) for this purpose. Her initial focus is to help the child feel comfortable so he or she can perform his or her best.

Marie and her husband raised their three children in Richmond. In her free time, Marie enjoys reading, exercising, cooking, eating out, and walking her French Bulldog.
